DNS stands for Domain Name System, which is an internet protocol that translates domain names into IP addresses. Without a DNS server, we would not be able to find websites by name. Dns servers are used to find the location of a website based on domain name, for example if you type www.somedomain.com into your web browser, the DNS server will find the IP address for that website and then you will see the website loaded.

2. How DNS servers work
A DNS server is a computer that is responsible for translating domain names into IP addresses. This is how most people are able to connect to a website. There are different types of DNS servers, but the most common is the authoritative DNS server. An authoritative DNS server provides the authoritative answer for a domain name. This means that it provides the IP address for the domain name and all other DNS servers are dependent on this server for the authoritative answer. The authoritative DNS server is also the only DNS server that can provide the correct IP address for a domain name.

3. What is the Domain Name System?
The Domain Name System, or DNS, is the system that allows computers to communicate with each other using domain names.
